Richard Harvey, Lecturer in the Hebrew Bible and Jewish Studies at All Nations Christian College, Ware, UK, writes:
It has been my privilege to serve with the ministry of Jews for Jesus from 1991 to 1998, during which time I worked in the USA and UK. I had been aware of Jews for Jesus since 1979, when as a result of their evangelistic ministry my brother came to know Jesus as his Messiah and Lord.
I have always been impressed by the evangelistic zeal, creativity and impact Jews for Jesus have had in the field of Jewish missions. They have been at the fore-front of pioneering new and effective strategies in Jewish evangelism, whilst continuing the rich heritage of Jewish mission work in focusing on person-to-person ministry.
I found the mission to operate with the highest standards of ethical and theological integrity, living according to biblical principles, and working in accordance with the strictest controls on financial accountability, concern for the personal and spiritual well-being of staff, and desire to serve the Lord.
It is difficult to think of any other organisation that has had such an effect in terms of the leadership and training Jews for Jesus has given, and I am one of many who owes a debt of gratitude to the ministry.
Whilst no one individual or human organisation is perfect this side of heaven, Jews for Jesus has always shown a willingness to learn as it goes, to change and develop and to be accountable for its operations, both to staff, board and supporters. As such, it continues to be used by the Lord to be messengers to the Jewish people of the Good News of the Messiah. |
